Moʻolelo

In this tale, the moʻo, Kamōʻiliʻili, is ferocious and inflicts absolute terror on her victims before Hiʻiaka was able to defeat her. Kamōʻiliʻili was so formidable in all her strength and cunning that Lohi‘au and Pāhoa were completely incapacitated by fear and intimidation. Hiʻiaka was the only one in her party to have the confidence, strength, and wisdom to defend her friends and defeat this great moʻo.

Hālau ʻĪnana is only about 3 minutes away from the place where Kamōʻiliʻiliʻs tail was thrown. Walking around the neighborhood today, can you feel the mana that is still saturated in this land?Through cross referencing, it has been identified that the robust wall on the far side of Kalo park is, in fact, the tail of the fearsome Kamōʻiliʻili.

We are inspired by Hiʻiakaʻs victory and aim to help it live on in Hālau ʻĪnana. This is the place to cultivate mana, wisdom, and confidence in our own capabilities, as well as the place to build pilina for the lāhui. The focus areas of Leadership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Career Pathways, Lawena, ʻIke Kuʻuna, and ʻIke Honua [something something something]

Hālau ʻĪnana is currently home to the Purple Maiʻa Foundation. Purple Maiʻa is a native tech non-profit with the mission to educate and empower the next generation of culturally grounded, community serving technology makers and problem solvers.
